Monday - Friday 2-3pm, Sunday 2-6pm

Andy was born at the Horton General Hospital and for the first couple of years of his life decided to be a baby. After a couple of years he decided to be a child, and spent his formative years at Christopher Rawlins Primary School in Adderbury, the Warriner School in Bloxham, and did A levels at Banbury School. After school he spent a short period of time working for the electrical retailer Curry’s (when they used to be where KFC is in the High Street), before moving into computing at Cherwell District Council.

Andy’s first experience of radio came at BBC Radio Oxford after he pestered Timmy Mallet for a chance to appear on his Keep It Or Crack It programme. By the age of 14 he was on Banbury hospital’s Radio Horton and also on-air at school with the Radio Warriner end of year chart!

Andy’s break into professional radio came in 1991 when he covered two overnight shows on Fox FM. Soon afterwards he had a regular overnight shift and then progressed to presenting the hugely successful Saturday Night Jukebox, complete with its infectious catchphrase, “Hi Andy, play me a song on the Fox”. Andy went on to present every show on the schedule at Fox FM and even broadcast travel reports from the Flying Fox helicopter. During his ten years at Fox FM Andy helped turn on the Christmas lights in Banbury on a number of occasions.

In 2001 Andy left Fox FM and began the campaign to bring a local radio station to Banbury. He ran the two highly successful Banbury FM trial broadcasts from a broadcast vehicle outside Tesco, and presented breakfast each day. These were some of the most successful trial broadcasts in the UK and generated over 6,000 letters of support.

After four years of campaigning Andy was as shocked as most local people to discover that Banbury FM had not won the licence to broadcast locally. He was now working for the Milestone Group as their Group Programme Controller. Andy oversaw their licence campaigns that helped bring local radio to Andover and Leamington Spa. He also controlled the output of Milestone’s six radio stations in London and the Thames Valley. Amongst his highlights Andy’s programming helped take Rugby FM to become the market leading radio station with still unbeaten listening figures, and he relaunced the Oxford 107.9 licence as Passion 107.9, again with listening figures that have not been beaten since.

Andy has launched the careers of many presenters including the 2005 Arqiva Awards Newcomer of the Year, Bodg, who now works for Global Radio owned Galaxy.

In 2007 Andy joined Tindle Radio as the Station Manager for Kick FM in Newbury and soon progressed to the position of Regional Programme Controller over the four stations in the Group’s southern region. In 2008 he became the Regional Station Manager for Kick FM (Newbury), Kestrel FM (Basingstoke) and Dream 107.2 (Winchester), which he relaunched from the failing Win FM. Under Andy’s management Kestrel FM achieved its best ever listening figures and reversed its revenue position to become profitable.

Andy left Tindle Radio in April 2009 and now provides programming, sales and marketing advice to radio stations, training for presenters, and also goes back to his first love of stepping in the studio and doing a programme.
